Christology, as the name would seem to imply, concerns the nature and person of Jesus Christ (adding the Greek logia implies the study of something, e.g., biology, physiology, etc.). This could be thought of a biographical information of Christ, i.e., who He was, the major events of His birth, death, resurrection, and so forth. The object of all of this is to have a clearer understanding for the Church and for ourselves how we ought best to see Christ’s role in our salvation - which has obviously been a controversial topic throughout the history of the Church, has led to schisms, declarations of heresy, etc. Probably the best (but certainly not the easiest) explanation of Eastern Orthodox Christology can be found in Vladimir Lossky’s Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church.
