The Divine Liturgy - the Fountain of Immortality. As we begin our upcoming discussions of the Divine Liturgy, I would like for you to please watch this wonderful video produced by our Eastern American Diocese. It’s intended as a spiritual meditation on the Divine Liturgy from the perspective of the Holy Fathers of the Church. It will walk you through every part of what we do every Sunday, to include the portions rarely seen by many folks - the entrance prayers, vesting prayers, and proskomedia, in addition to the Divine Liturgy itself. BTW - if you haven’t read or listened to these prayers or asked to watch the proskomedia, please do! This video is a helpful way also to introduce your family members to the Divine Liturgy if they’ve never attended an Orthodox service, if they’re reticent to attend the parish with you, or if they’re simply curious why we do what we do. To that end, after you’ve watched, please consider the following:
There are several quotes from the Church Fathers throughout the video - which stood out to you the most and why?
The Holy Anaphora is called the holiest part of the Divine Liturgy - why?
As catechumens, you’re preparing to partake fully in the Mysteries of the Divine Liturgy - what are you most looking forward to?
What was your number one takeaway from this video and who do you plan to share it with?
